There are mixed reactions across Kenya on a day that voters are supposed to be electing the country’s next president. compared to the August 8 polls, turn out is low but security is high.
In most opposition strongholds, riot police have had to use tear gas, water cannons and in some cases live bullets to disperse violent protesters preventing others from voting.
The main opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) had boycotted the polls citing a lack of reforms. Its supporters, however, defied a call by leader Raila Odinga to stay at home.
